内容摘要：室内设计作为一门独立的专业，在世界范围内的真正确立是在20世纪六七十年代之后，现代主义建筑运动是室内设计专业诞生的直接动因。室内设计与文化背景是分不开的，设计师要完成创造具有民族的地域文化特色的现代室内设计，就要对传统文化有深入的研究，结合历史文化和时代文化，扬长避短。本文通过比较法分析，比较和总结出中国传统建筑室内文化的精髓以及在当代中国室内设计中南北方不同的传承传统文化的方式和方法，融入到现代室内设计中去。
